Jack listens and it hurts. It isn't just Balthazar's words now but so many other words and actions. Jack frowns and his heart clenches like it might stop. When words come they're full of hurt and sadness.
"Then you're just like everyone else? You like what I got but not who or what I am."
Jack took a deep breath and tries to wiggle out of the hug. "This is all I've got, don't you understand?" His breathing has gone shallow and from the unhindered empathy the pain is becoming oppressive around his person. "Ziggy's uncle looked into my mind. Everything's gone. There's nothing left of who I might have been. This is all I've got left and I'm sorry that you don't like what's left. That it's not enough. This is all that's left of me...who ever that was."
