Let's Party Like It's 1999- Bar Opening in the Nexus [OPEN POST]
It had been a time coming but finally Balthazar's bar "The Angel's Retreat" was open for business having been stocked up fully with drinks of all shapes, sizes and colours. Standing at the bar area is the owner, wings out and clutching a glass of Lucifer's finest angel booze. Scotch to be precise but at angel strength. The certain bottles of gut rot were locked up within a drinks cabinet behind the bar with only Balthazar being able to open it. The stuff was lethal to non-immortals and not wanting to poison potential customers, safety had to be upheld.
[ooc: Just pick which part of the club your character will visit and Balthazar will respond to both.]
The Bar Area:
(Pictures of the bar can be found here.)
Feel free to mingle here with one another and indulge in conversation and order your drinks here. Balthazar will be on hand to deliver whatever your heart's desire so chooses. Whether it be the strongest drink to the less lethal non-alcoholic varieties. Along with drinks there are also bowls of snacks positioned along the length of the bar including; crisps, potato chips (tortillas and the like), pickles, peanuts and other aperitifs.
The Nightclub and dance floor:
(Picture of the dance floor can be found here.)
If you are tired of ordering drinks or chatting then have no fear. If you walk into the backroom of the bar you will find a night club area, complete with a dance floor and DJ in the corner offering up a wide range of music. He also takes requests, so feel free to ask. That, or Balthazar will arrange something for your tastes. There is also a pole with a woman, or man, binding himself around it, offering up quite the show for any eager enthusiasts. It depends on what time of day you frequent the club. If it's evening then the pole dancer will be here showing of their moves. The dance floor is open all day.

"What do you mean... survive?"

How often had he picked up his one girl and climbed with her because she couldn't? He'd lost count.
no subject
"Not here, though... Nobody can do that here." Minoru offered reassurance where he could. Wherever that awful place was, Jack wasn't currently in it. "Not sure about plague fog, but nobody at the hospital has ever talked about it. So I'm guessing it can't happen here."
Surely, if that was a common weather pattern, someone would have warned him by now.
"Here, we can climb things just because it's fun." he offered, motioning for Jack to do the same and holding out his hand. "Finish your drink. Show me what you've got!"
no subject
Jack didn't bounce back from worry so quickly. However he looks up at the other man. "You should try it with wheels on."
He's still work on his drink and not about to chug it.
no subject
He meant that. He honestly did.
"I've never even tried standing with wheels on." he chuckled, trying to help lighten the mood. "Bring me back a pair next time and I'll give it a go?"
no subject
He swallows hard and, now does down the drink. He slides down off the pole, in part to set the empty glass somewhere. It was a gift and he didn't want it getting broken. "I bought them here. The shop's down the street and still open."
no subject
"Okay. Tell you what." Minoru pushed off with his feet, spinning all the way down to follow Jack. "I'll pick some up tomorrow, get a few lessons from Harley, and the next time you're visiting, we'll have another go at it. But first, I totally want to see what you can do on those!"
He was hopeful that would put a smile back on the other man's face. Even if only for a little while.
no subject
"I can do anything you can do in your shoes, plus all the benefits of the wheels." He turned back to his compatriot and then glances around the bar. There were some people here but not so many to cramp his style. He was used to flying through crowds to avoid the Ministry patrols anyway.
He points to the wooden ledges in the main part of the bar up near the ceiling. "I've already skated those. There's probably not much harder than that in here."
no subject
"Oh, really?" he grinned. That sounded like a challenge. "Starting from the half wall? Or somewhere else?"
no subject
Jack smiles uncaring. "Wherever you want. Jumping from the floor is the hardest to get close enough to the wall. You can only ride two wheels up there."
Jack was not in fancy, modern inline skates, but old school 4-wheeled box skates. He preferred them after trying out a pair of in-lines at the shop. The guy had told him over and over he could do more, but they learned otherwise.
"I'm up for anything." He waved down the waitress and handed off his glass to get another drink made.
no subject
"Okay. You lead, I'll follow."
In other words - challenge accepted.
no subject
"You might not have to follow exactly. You don't need to pull speed."
Jack glided easily to the bar looking toward the door. He frog hopped up on the bar and the people there stared, picking up the drinks. Jack had been around being crazy most of the evening. Anyone who had more than one drink knew something was about to happen.
He broke for the other end of the bar picking up speed as fast as he can, there isn't much before it will run out. It is enough to get him up on the frame above the door where there's a decent amount of space, but Jack's eight is a disadvantage. He's mostly walking on stoppers while he eyes the ledge and glances back at his follower. Balthazar still looks absent so that's a plus.
There's a lip over the window he uses with his left stopper to hop up on his toes, get his outside right skate wheels on the ledge of interest and push off. It leaves him to glide backwards which would be fine but friction does slow you and too slow means falling. crouched he slings his leg to keep up speed. At the very end leaning forward to balance on his skate and hands to wait for Minoru. It's awkward but not the worst position. Besides, there was only a hallway space off the edge to get back down on the ground. The last thing he needed was to slam into a wall speeding off the ledge.

There were a few cheers from the fellow bar patrons, and there would soon be a few more.
Minoru hopped up on the bar, but didn't run down it. Instead, he took to the overhang above it like an ultimate cliff hanger. Once he made it to the half wall, he kicked off the actual wall to propel himself up to the first ledge.
As soon as Minoru caught up, he was treated to a stunning display of style and skill.
Minoru can't glide, but he could - and did - run. It was almost as precarious as being on skates, given how little room there was to maneuver. Just like Jack, he had to keep up a certain amount of momentum or he ran the risk of tumbling right off. Unlike Jack, he could push off of the light fixtures to keep that momentum going.

Once Minoru joins him on the ground Jack looks over at him, not quite impressed but definitely approving. "I should take you where I'm from and see our courses where I help the kids train."
no subject
Forget anything that may have been said about needing these skills for survival in a post-apocalyptic danger zone. Minoru was thrilled to meet someone who enjoyed freeskating just as much as he enjoyed freerunning.
“That would be awesome! I’d love to!”
no subject
"You're welcome to whenever. I need to know so I can steal a few vaccines." Jack pauses for a moment. "There's a plague in my city."
no subject
As long as it was small enough that he could carry it on his person, he’d try to make it happen.
“Is that enough advance notice for the vaccine? Definitely don’t want to bring a plague back to work with me.”
no subject
"It doesn't transmit between humans that way but it's in the water and water vapor in our city."
no subject
He encouraged Jack to at least share some basic things about everyone he was shopping for - ages, genders and if they had any particular things they liked.
no subject
Jack gives Minoru a quick description of the four under his care and then asks. "What kind of gifts do you like?"
no subject
“Me?” He laughed. “Just getting to scale that high-rise building you live in will be the perfect gift. Seriously!”

“Sure.” He smiled. “I could go for a beer.”
Minoru wasn’t a heavy drinker. He ordered something light as he pulled out a stool and invited Jack to sit down with him.
“So, what do you do back home?”
