Jack went willingly, if reluctant to break the hug. Once they had a place, seated or standing, Jack would be back for another hug.
Jack took a deep breath, let it out slowly. "And every night it isn't me it's one of the kids or someone else they grab. They don't stop coming for people just because I take a night off."
Jack shook a little through his shoulders. "One of the others will get used tonight because I'm here with you. Tomorrow morning I'll be tending thier wounds while you have relief thinking no one was hurt."
Jack was talking quietly though loud enough that the angel could hear him. "If I'm gone too long they could think about overrunning the island, then everyone's at risk. You're asking something I can't do, not now."
Maybe not ever Jack thought to himself but didn't voice it. It weighed on him but it felt good too to tell Balthazar xlearly what the score was.
